Dr. Manoj Chandra Mathur is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 40 years of expertise in the field of Ophthalmology. He completed his MBBS from Osmania University in 1985, followed by a Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) from the A.P. University of Health Sciences in 1990. He obtained membership from the American Medical Society of Vienna, Austria (MAMS) in July 1994. Dr. Mathur has undergone extensive training and internships at prestigious institutions, including Osmania General Hospital, Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, and Lions Club of Hyderabad, Sadhuram Eye Hospital & Post Graduate Institute of Ophthalmology.

Professional Journey:

Dr. Mathur’s career spans various roles and responsibilities, showcasing his dedication to patient care and ophthalmic excellence. He served as a Senior House Surgeon in General Surgery at Osmania General Hospital, followed by a Research Associate Ophthalmologist role in an ICMR project focusing on Corneal Vascularisation at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital. His passion for ophthalmology led him to work as an Assistant Surgeon (Ophthalmologist) at Lions Club of Hyderabad and Sadhuram Eye Hospital, where he gained valuable experience for eight years. Dr. Mathur further honed his skills as a Trainee-Glaucoma at Swarup Eye Centre for three years before assuming the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist & Head of the Glaucoma department at Swarup Eye Centre. 

Specializations and Expertise:

Dr. Mathur specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex eye conditions, particularly focusing on Glaucoma. He is renowned for his proficiency in anterior segment surgery, modern cataract microsurgery, IOL implantation, and contact lenses. With considerable experience in microsurgery and ophthalmic lasers, Dr. Mathur ensures the highest standards of eye care for his patients. He has a keen interest in community ophthalmology and has organized numerous eye camps and awareness programs.

Leadership and Achievements:

Throughout his career, Dr. Mathur has held several leadership positions and received prestigious awards and accolades for his contributions to ophthalmology. He has served as the Editor of the Newsletter/Yearbook of the Andhra Pradesh State Ophthalmological Society and was elected as the Honorary General Secretary of the society for two terms. Dr. Mathur has been actively involved in academic activities, conducting workshops and CMEs for postgraduate students and fellow ophthalmologists. His scientific exhibits and research presentations have been recognized with awards at national and international conferences.
